Leslie H. Hobbs, 70, Harborview Dr., Henderson, passed away Friday morning on December 26th at the Hospice Residence at the Ellis Farm, Gotham St., Watertown with his family by his side.


 


The funeral mass will be 10:30 am Tuesday, December 29th at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Adams, with Rev. Martin Cline officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Nohle Rd., Town of Henderson.  Calling hours are Monday, December 28th from 5 pm – 8 pm at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY  13601.


 


Leslie is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Creighton) Hobbs, Henderson; their children Tina Schad (Jay Hickox), Lowville; Kimberly Kiley, Binghamton; Lester (Jacqueline) Hobbs, Lorraine; Jonas (Donna) Hobbs, Mannsville; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Janet (Fred) Goodnough, Wallace (Kathleen) Hobbs, Marcia (Lawrence) Rudd, all of Mannsville and Bert Hobbs, San Francisco, CA; many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his father Howard in 1985 and his mother Beulah Hobbs Wing in September of this year.


 


He was born in Adams Center, March 9, 1945, a son to Howard and Beulah Delano Hobbs.  He was a 1963 graduate of Union Academy Belleville.  Leslie worked on the family farm on the Hobbs Road, Town of Ellisburg and Blount Lumber in Lacona for many years.  He went to work at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home in Watertown in the maintenance department, retiring in 2010 after 17 years of service.


 


Leslie was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church and the Knights of Columbus.  He was a fan of MLB New York Mets and enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

Just returned from vacation, sorry to hear of Leslie's passing. Our prayers and thoughts are with all of you.

My heartfelt prayers are with you, Dorothy, as you greet each day without your loved one. I know you know he is at peace .. may memories of your dear husband bring smiles to your heart. It was a joy for all who cared for Leslie .. take care of yourself.

I remember Les and Dorothy in my many years at Samaritan Keep Home. Les was always smiling and cheered every one up. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
