COLUMBIA%%Services for Leslie D. Knight, 70, of Columbia, will be held at 2pm Wednesday in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Rev. Erskine Shriver. Burial and military rites will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mr. Knight died Sunday, November 7, 2004. Born in Rossville, SC, he was the son of the late Gerald Whitehead and the late Ina Knight Adams. Mr. Knight was a retired United States Army veteran having served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. During his 21-year career, he attained the rank of Master Sergeant and was the recipient of numerous awards including the Bronze Star. Mr. Knight had been an area resident for the past 30-plus years. He attended worship services at the Barnyard Flea Market.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda C. Knight of Columbia; daughters, Janet, Lana, and Delana, all of Elizabethtown, KY, and Helen of Lexington; sons, Steve Knight of Elizabethtown, KY, Leslie D. Knight of Lexington; special aunt, Helen Williams of Great Falls; two sisters; two brothers; step-children, Sgt. Jack R. Chamberlain, Jr. (Rhonda) of Lake City, Trish C. Schwartz (Donald) of Lexington; grandchildren, Jack Ray Chamberlain III, Donald Edward Schwartz, Jr., and Jacqueline D. Chamberlain. Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy F.
