I am saddened to read of Les's passing. I had the privilege of playing with him in the trumpet section of the New Horizons Band and the New Horizons Big ( Dance )Band He was an outstanding technical player and I learned so much from him. He was unique, especially for a trumpet player, because he didn't have the need to play solo or first parts. He loved harmony, and got his greatest kicks playing those parts.
