Les was loved and touched all with his unique wisdom, sense of humor, and compassion.

Born Feb 5, 1926, in Libertyville, IL, Les graduated Libertyville High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII. While stationed at Harvard, NE, he met his first wife, Betty Turner, from Hastings, NE. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he earned his B.S. Degree and Masters Degree in Statistics from the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Les enjoyed working in the Midwest, California, and Huntsville, Alabama where he met and married his current wife, Betty Holt Rogers, from Sarasota, FL. Les’ last Federal job was at the Redstone Arsenal with the U.S. Army Ballistic Missile Defense Systems Command. He then supported the Government for five years as a contractor with McDonnell Douglas. Upon full retirement, Les and Betty moved to Bradenton, FL where they loved to play golf at Tara Country Club. Les and Betty were Couples Golf Champions in 1993.

Les lived a long, happy, successful and satisfying life. He was a devout Christian who loved life, his family, Woodland Church fellowship and all friends. He loved playing bridge, bowling and tennis.

Les’ sister, Helen Cotton, and brother, Homer Rogers, are both deceased. Les is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons and their wives, Steve and Janet Rogers, and Mark and Darenda Rogers; stepdaughter, Susan Russ, and stepson Don Russ Jr; six grandchildren (Leslie Weinstein, Matt Rogers, Jason Rogers, Christopher Rogers, Donnie Russ III, and Diana Russ); and, one great grandchild, Charlotte Weinstein.

Not sure what to say?

Still miss you every day, Dad! Love you so very much. Like I’ve told many people, you are my gold standard and you set a very high bar that I tried to live up to. I love you, Steve....

Dad, your light will never go out!!

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

My wonderful dad! I will miss you so very much!! Dad was my Gold Standard,,,he led by example and set the bar very high. He always had a great sense of humor and always had some sort of a saying to match the moment. For example, a friend of mine, Terry, who while playing golf with Dad and me one time, hit a ball that more or less never got airborne but rolled and rolled all the way up and onto the green. Dad said, "well Terry, that wasn't very pretty, but it WAS effective".
Rest in...
