Friday morning, March 28th, 2025, Les Spradlin left his earthly home in Duncanville, Texas, and woke up in his “forever home” with his Lord and Savior. Les fought a long and courageous battle against liver disease and Parkinson’s. During his ten year fight he never lost his sense of humor and was a true inspiration to everyone he knew.
Les was born, May 8th, 1960, on Mother’s Day. He was a gift his mother treasured for nearly 65 years. His parents, Leslie Owen and Reta Joyce Spradlin were in love with their baby boy the first minute they saw him, he was their Bud!
Les grew up in Tyler and graduated from John Tyler in 1978. He started working at age 13 at A&W Root Beer in Tyler. He moved to the Dallas area and spent many years in retail management. He later followed his daddy’s footsteps and went into Real Estate. Les was in property management until his health began to deteriorate.
A special love was shared with Les by his precious dogs including: Sweet Pea, June Bug, Izzie, Max and his faithful companion Duke. Duke and Max were with him to the very end bringing joy to his heart each time they came to his bedside.
Preceding Les in death were his father, Leslie Owen Spradlin and his beloved son, Eric Scott Spradlin, as well as many other family members and friends. There was a big celebration in heaven when Les got there!
Les is survived by his partner, Greg Hutchinson who stood by him in the darkest hours as well as the good times. His mother, Reta J. Spradlin, sister, Reta Lynne Spradlin, and childhood friend, Mary Cayard Eikner, among many other special friends and cousins.
Les also leaves behind his niece and family Jennifer Davis and nephew and family Robert Halbert.
Services are through Burks Walker Funeral Home in Tyler. Visitation will be Friday, April 4th from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM.
The funeral will be Saturday, April 5th at Burks Walker Tippit funeral chapel at 1:00 PM, with pastor Scott Moore of Tyland Baptist Church. Music by Justin Powell. Interment immediately following service at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery on South Broadway in Tyler.
Pallbearers will be:
Ron Abel, Josh Vandenburg, Loyd Ellis, Conny Eikner, Ben Gilley and John Coker.
Honorary Pallbearers:

Thank you to everyone who has loved and prayed for Les over the years, he loved each of you dearly.

Bud was one of the nicest people I've ever known, and that's been a very long time. He truly was a great example of what a Christian is. RIP! No more suffering. All my best to Reta Lynn and family.

Les was one of our closest friends. He always had a positive presence, even when he wasn’t feeling well. It was always a joy spending time with him over the years. His sense of humor was awesome, too!
It is difficult to articulate what Les’ friendship meant to us. When we visited him over the past few months, he still had the Les spark. We are blessed to have had him in our lives and will always have fond memories. He fought the good fight. May he find peace in heaven.

Les you will be missed. You were a special person that I was lucky enough to know. I know you are in a much better place now, finally getting to be reunited with your Eric.
Rest easy my friend.
