My sincere condolences to the Unger family. I owe a lot to Les. When I was a student at Rutgers, he helped me get a job as a stringer with the Newark Evening News. He also helped me get a job at Kutsher's in the Catskills the summer of '68. I always felt a little bit embarrassed to talk with him about how I left that job, but all of us were a little bit crazy in 1968.

I later worked for The Star-Ledger for 30 years as a copy editor.
