Lester Leon Ellcessor, 90, husband of Shirley Bowen Ellcessor, passed away April 3, 2023.  Born in Lawrence County, Ohio on January 22, 1933, Lester was the son of the late Lester Dale Ellcessor and Opal Bennett Ellcessor. 


Lester served his country as a Quarter Master in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.  He attended Ohio State University and retired as a manufacturing manager with Ametek.  A member of the Alton Baptist Church since 2017, he was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, OH.  Lester was a private pilot, an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, and enjoyed playing golf, painting, playing the organ, and traveling with his wife in their RV.  


Including Shirley, his wife of 67 years, he is survived by his son, Gary Ellcessor and his wife Marta of Lawrenceburg; two grandchildren, Katie (Erik) Scott of Frankfort and Andrew (Kristin) Ellcessor of Mt. Washington; six great grandchildren, Taylor Grace, Riley, Ruby Kate, Annie Joey, Madison, and Grayson; three nieces and a nephew.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanine Mattfeld and a brother Gary Dale Ellcessor. 


A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 10 AM – 12 Noon followed by a funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM Thursday at Alton Baptist Church, 1321 Bypass N., Lawrenceburg, KY.  Lester’s son, Pastor Gary Ellcessor will officiate the service. 


Entombment with services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Rose Hill Burial Park in Springfield, OH.
