I have known Les Lagatta since forever. I remember when he first became a policeman in Cleveland Heights. As a police officer myself, everyone knew Les. I remember the day he became Chief of Police. Working for many different police chiefs, Les, was a unique Chief. He wanted his people to be happy with the job.

My family and I are deeply saddened to hear of our cousin Lester´s passing. He was a larger than life personality! Each of us has a special Les memory! Rest with the angels, Cuz.

You hired me as an officer in a time of great competition and it changed my life. It was a huge positive on my life and I told you often that I´d never forget it. May you be held in comforting and helping hands forever. Farewell, Chief.

I worked with Lester [Cmdr LaGatta] in 1975, he introduced me to my first experience in law enforcement. He was both my trainor and my supervisor. I most recently saw Lester in Downtown Cleveland at the St. Patrick's Day Parade. I have been living away now since late 1976.
