Not sure what to say?

We dedicated the book Ten on a Toboggan, an Oral History of Chatham NJ, to Les because the book was as much his project as anyone's. His interviews with Chatham's movers and shakers, the gang from the Playhouse, former mayors, and lots of just plain folks, make that book so interesting. Working with Les was great fun, never dull, and worth every minute. We'll miss him! Gusty Scattergood

Lester's passing was a sad day for Chatham Community Players. Lester has always symbolized to me the "Golden Age" of Players who performed together, worked hard behind-the-scenes together, and partied together; where if there was a piano available, Lester would probably be playing it and Bill McCulloch or Laverne Thomas, or any one of dozens of others, would be singing 'til the wee hours. Losing Lester is like losing a part of Chatham. He was in a league of his own. I smile when I think of Lester riding his lawnmower and cutting our grass at 39 Elmwood; Mr. Entertainment at his piano singing wonderful old songs; summer parties in the backyard; and morning coffee in the kitchen with him when I walked through the "never locked" backdoor; and I chuckle that he did not want to throw out his Nehru jacket because it could come back in style! He lived life on his own terms and I...

With deepest Sympathy to his family and friends that knew him

Les,

I may have only known you a short time, but I will NEVER forget you and what you brought to life. You always had smile on your face and a heart full of laughter. I was always amazed listening to you reminisce about your life and all that you accomplished and experienced. You lived every day of your life as if it was your last. You truly were an incredible person.

We will miss you Les, but more importantly, we will miss the way you touched all our lives...

Peace be...

Lester, you will be missed by all who knew you. I am fortunate our paths crossed and we had the opportunity to walk together and talk together for a while.
