Lester D. Menke

To the Family of Lester Menke,
I worked with Lester in Gov Branstad's office in 1985. He had such a great sense of humor, was patient and kind, and a role model to me. I had lost touch with him over the years, but always remembered him fondly. I want to express my sympathy in your loss.

We send our sympathy to the family of Lester Menke. He was a great man. He took me to Des Moines in my high school days. He chatted with me in the Capitol in Des Moines. He was a great man. We send our greetings to his family and his new address is heaven.

Lester was such a good guy. Although he was in the House and from the other party, was always civil and kind to a this very young liberal Senator. I would hope that more legislators elected in the future would mirror Lester.

Despite our political differences, I enjoyed working with Les in the Iowa House and later as Lieutenant Governor. My condolences go to his family and close friend Mary Grefe.

My condolences to Les's family and friends. I enjoyed his friendship as a legislator, and after. His conservativism was always tempered with his ability to compromise for the benefit of the state.
