LB, as his closest friends knew him, was more than a priest to me. My father died when I was 8 years old, and LB, unknowingly took his place.
When I was 18, his son, Steve, introduced me to his father, and a love and friendship blossomed from that day.
He blessed my son when he died, and helped me through some of the most difficult times in my life. He baptised everyone of my girls, and made them part of his family. He asked me to be his best man for his marriage to Cynthia...An...

I offered the noon Mass today at All Saints, Pasadena, for the happy repose of Lester's soul. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. He was a great priest, and an encouraging colleague to this (relatively) young priest, when I came to Grand Rapids.

MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO THE THOMAS FAMILY. I KNOW THE COMFORT THAT WAS PROVIDED BY FATHER THOMAS WHEN MY GRANDPARENTS DIED (Cecil and Hermina Dean) and my stepsister.

Our Blessings to the Thomas family, Father Thomas had great influence in the Lane Family and Cook Family(Margaret). God Bless

You are in our prayers. We loved him at St. Peter's in Montague! God's love was felt through him in our parish at an important time. What an awesome man!

Les was one of the most gracious men I've ever known. I have many memories of him as part of the Cursillo community in Western Michigan. My wife preached her first sermon at Les's chuch in Montague.

Blessings to the Thomas family. Fr. Les was a significant influence in my life. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My sympathy to you...my mom was Eleanor Beckering Van Belois..dad was Dr. Harvard Van Belois .and I may have been a flower girl in the l940's. I remember Fr. Thomas' 3 adult children...knew them as kids at the yearly picnics on Memorial Day and met them again when Verna, their mother passed away in the 1980's.
