Miss Letha was my grandmother's (Lela Mae Cummings Durrett) best friend, and she was like a second grandmother to me and my siblings, as was Mr. Tom. We loved visiting our grandparents in the summer - and the Cathey's lived 'next door'. Yes, we enjoyed spent many a day playing in that little country store. Our own Papa, Millard Durrett, had the store before Mr. Tom. Ms Letha and I stayed in touch over the years sharing a love of family, family stories, quilting and sewing. Her life made a...

Growing up just down the road from Mr. Tom and "Miss" Letha's, I have fond memories of the both of them. I made many a trip to Mr. Tom's store on my bicycle!
