Doug,
I was completely dumbfounded when I received a telephone call from a professor in Seitz Hall alerting me that Lettie had passed away. Lettie was a very special person. I am really glad I got to know her when I worked in Seitz Hall. I know that she loved you tremendously. She talked about you and fishing all the time. When she spoke of you and fishing, her face just lit up. Even when she said she didn't catch much - she would still giggle because she enjoyed being...

Dearest Doug,
I'm so sorry to hear this news. Lettie was a warm, loving and thoughtful person. She brought alot of happiness to the ones around her. When Lettie retired from Va Tech, it was a sad day to see her go, but, also a happy day. We talked about her sleeping in, grabbing a fishing pole and going to the river bank whenever she desired(catching those pretty fish and setting them free again). The squirrels were never the same after she left. On numerous accations we talked about how...

Dear Doug:
I am so sorry to hear this news. I am very grateful that you brought Lettie to the reunion Saturday and had no idea I would be hearing this news this soon. Lettie seemed to enjoy being there in spite of her illness. Please know that I have truly enjoyed the few times I have chatted with Lettie over the years and so agree that she was a loving person. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and pray that you can find peace through all the cherished memories the...

Uncle Dougie,
Words cannot express the sorrow that we are all feeling right now. I have a deep emptiness in my heart. Lettie was like a sister to me for many years. She and I experienced many fun times together. I will forever cling to those memories and memories are something no one can take away from us. Lettie is not suffering now, she is in heaven with our other loved ones and I'm sure she's telling some fishing tales. God Bless and keep you during this time. Only he can guide you...

Doug,
I'm so sorry. I knew Lettie through Virginia Tech and fondly remember her "spoiling" the squirrels outside our building by feeding them peanuts. She was always so friendly and fun to chat with. On my first day back to work after my father passed away, she was waiting for me at the front door of Agnew hall to give me a hug and tell me "you'll be alright." I'll never forget Lettie. God bless you and your family.
