CROWDER, Lewis William "Billy," 91, of Bracey, Va., formerly of Kenbridge, died June 2, 2011. He was husband of the late Laverna Inge Crowder. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and served many years as Treasurer of VFW Post 9954. He was a member of the Virginia Tire and Automotive Association for numerous years, a member of the Kenbridge Chamer of Commerce and the Kenbridge United Methodist Church. He started in business right after WWII opening Economy Auto and Home Supply which is now Crowder Tire Center. Still family owned and operated by his son, Lewis T. Crowder (Debbie) of Bracey. He is also survived by three daughters, Jane C. Rodriguez (Edgar) of Laurel Md., Laura C. Martin of South Hill and Suzanne C. Davis (Norman) of Kenbridge; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday June 4, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Kenbridge Heights Cemetery, Kenbridge. Sorry about your loss. Mr Crowder was a nice man. I can remember when we were young and my sister got our first bicycle, your dad was the only place that let my parents charge for them and pay on time. We did that a lot for tires too. He will be remembered.
