Not sure what to say?

My Grandpa passed almost two months ago. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about him, and wish I had just a bit longer. Growing up, he felt infinite. He was always there, always so present in my life, that I never even thought about what my life might look like after him. Grandpa Lewis showed up even when I wouldn't ask him to, made me laugh when I wasn't in the mood to, and offered me advice when I didn't know how to ask for it. And he was always right. I miss you so much...

Lewis was a wickedly funny man, making rapid connections that resonate with everyone, but that nobody else could think of - and certainly not as quickly. We loved our world travels with Lewis and Lynn to India and to Japan. The significant impact he made in this world was vividly apparent in looking at the faces of his forlorn grandchildren. They and we will miss Lewis so much. With love, Mike and Vera

Lewis was an incredibly supportive and welcoming father-in-law to me. He knew how to be present and encouraging without being hovering or interfering . It´s a hard thing for any parent of an adult to do. With both gusto and modesty, he set about making a plentiful and artful life for himself and for those around him. I know he had many talents, but from my point of view that he was put on this earth to be a grandpa. He shined brilliantly in this role. So many games and jokes and...

My Gramps was the best playmate and he told GREAT chicken stories. I love him.

My dear Dr. Friedman had such an impact on my academic and professional journey. Because of his support, advice and recommendation for the Presidential Management Intern I was able to work for the Cleveland City Council President and then NASA. His commitment to Baruch, NUF and to his students was so obvious and appreciated. I am glad to have seen him in June 2024. He was loved by many.

I met Lewis for the very first time in the summer of 1980. It was at the LA restaurant, "The Fine Affair." If I recall correctly, the occasion was the 40th (?) Wedding Anniversary of Bluma and Al (Lynn's parents). Lewis was a charismatic force of nature. He was consistent during the decades that followed. Let his memory be a blessing and source of solace for Lynn & family. What a mensch!

Dr. Friedman was my academic advisor as well as finance and budgeting professor at Baruch during my national urban fellowship. Had it not been for his pushing me to explore and seek growth opportunities, I would not have sought to work at the national level. His tough love and guidance changed my career trajectory. He was an extraordinary person and long-time advocate for equality.

What I remember most about Lewis is his warm and loving smile. His calls to my mom were the highlight of her day. We were so proud of all he achieved. Rest in peace.

Lewis´s friendship was such an unexpected gift. I met him while working on NUF recruiting (he stayed active in the program long after he retired) and developed a wonderful friendship with him. Getting together with Lewis was always a treat - laughs, advice, warmth, and support. I will miss him terribly. (I already do.)
