Not sure what to say?

Lew, you were a great friend and teammate at SLO High. You were always honest and respectful of everyone you met. I last saw you at a reunion and you remembered me and said that I was your best receiver ever! That made me feel so proud. During my career as a coach and trainer, I worked with quarterbacks Marino, Montana, and Elway. They all heard about my favorite quarterback Lew McDaniels! Your family and friends are blessed to have you in their lives. Rest easy pal.

We who grew up with Lew never heard him put down another person, tried to build up and encourage those around him. His athletic prowess has and will be mentioned by others. From the days at Throop Field to our occasional meetings later in life, ya just had to be proud to be numbered among his friends. See ya later, pal.

Lew was an incredibly gifted athlete with a competitors heart second to none.Any team he was on was instantly better.I tried to convince him to become a Dodger fan for years but the answer was always-Never.We enjoyed the rivalry and he will NEVER be forgotten as our friend. All who knew him will be grieving, remembering the happy summer nights with him in an Owls uniform and cold beers at bulls later.RIP lew,i was always proud to say you were my friend!

Lew was many things and I am saddened to hear of his passing. An incredibly gifted athlete ,co worker, skier, foosball player and the list goes on.But he made any team better and was a hell of a competitor.i tried to convince him for years that the Bums were better but to no avail. We enjoyed the rivalries and he will NEVER be forgotten as our friend.RIP partner!!!--dodgervern Cockrell
