Wow, I hate to see this. Back in '69 or '70 I took Tae Kwon Do lessons from him. He'd opened a school in Mesquite, Tx. on Gus Thomasson Rd. close to Highway 80. I didn't know his back history at all back then and he never talked about it to the class. He was a very humble, patient, funny, respectful and kind man. He told the class just to call him Skipper. RIP sensei.

I met Skip in 1994 at Chase Place where I started working. Skip was a wonderful man and always lent a sympathetic ear if you were going though a tough time. Even after I left there I stayed in touch with Skip for many years. He was there for me during one of the roughest times in my life. I miss you, dear friend.

I was a high school kid admiring Skipper through Black Belt and Karate Illustrated, as well as via a friend who worked out in the Garland Rd dojo that was one of Skipper's hangouts to train young talent.
I had heard storeis about Skipper's legendary kicks and speed from a mutual Marine buddy, Chuck Armstrong, who introduced me to that dojo when I finished my tour.
All this is just intro to the night at the dojo when three of those legends - Skipper, Demetrius, and Ray McCallum...
