The summer before our win over Gables, Butch and I took Driver´s Ed there. After class, we went into the Weight room and worked out with the Gables players. Nick Kory´s lived two blocks from Butch and we often talked with him. Because our much smaller team pulled together, we were able to knock off a great program. Lew was undoubtedly the best QB that played at Columbus in the 60's. He threw a great spiral with accuracy and touch. When we beat the mythical National Champions (Coral Gables HS) in 1967, it was the first time we had defeated a perennial champion in the schools history. Lew was surrounded by some gutsy players that night who were determined to win the game.
