Andrews Mortuary and Crematory - Market Street Chapel - Wilmington Obituary

Liam Fredric Batten, 6 months, received his angel wings on April 3, 2015 after losing his battle with cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by family, friends, and caregivers that Liam had touched in some small way throughout his short time here.

Liam is survived by his loving parents, Bryan and Kim Batten of Wilmington, NC; sister, Charlotte Batten; paternal grandparents, Mark and Connie Batten of Raleigh, NC; maternal grandparents, Fred and April Eshelman of Wilmington, NC and Donna Clements of Wilmington, NC; maternal great-grandfather, Harold Garrish of Wilmington, NC, aunts and uncles; Wes and Ashley Miller of Greensboro, NC and Tyler and Nancy Batten of St. John, USVI; and cousin, Wiley Batten.

With Liam's passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, he will forever remain in our hearts. Liam has touched more lives in his short time here than many of us ever will and we feel blessed that he has made a lasting impression on so many lives. We are thankful that Liam's sister, Charlotte, met her brother so she can hold dear the memory of Liam?s gentle spirit.

Liam leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that provided constant love throughout his journey. All of these special people, too numerous to mention, provided Liam with not only love but strength for our family.

There will be a funeral service April 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Andrews Market Street Chapel in Wilmington, NC with a Celebration of Life to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Liam's life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Liam may be made online or by mail to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, 333 E. Lancaster Avenue #414, Wynnewood, PA 19096.

Not sure what to say?

I think of Liam often - he was so lucky to have such a wonderful, loving family surrounding him at all times. He is always in my prayers

Liam touched so many lives at UNC. He will be missed and never forgotten.

Bryan & Kimberly,
Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for you. Knowing you will be with him again is of so little comfort right now. May God bless you both and in time ease your pain. I will constantly pray for you and your family. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Bryan and Kim,
I am Kelly's mom, Carol, and I wanted to let you know that although your pain must be unbearable, little Liam is at peace and you will see him again one day. Never doubt. God bless you all.

So very sorry for the loss of your beautiful baby boy.

May your lovely family continue to have the amazing strength you've had these past months. Liam was with us for one brief shining moment - may you find comfort and peace in the love he brought that will live forever.

May God bless Liam...his strength and courage in his short life should be an inspiration for all of us!

Today's celebration was beautiful. Love and strength to the Batten and Eshelman families. Liam brought total strangers together to root him on in his big fight. My "love for Liam" bracelet will be held close to our hearts always. Stay faithful and strong. Please know so many people are here by your side.

So very sorry to hear of your loss. Please know there are others with similar experiences who love you and are praying for God's healing touch on your broken hearts. With love and sympathy, Norma,a friend of Erica Bellonio
