NGUYEN, Lien Thi, 73, of Richmond, born in Vietnam, went to be with our Heavenly Lord on June 17, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tan V. and Chinh T. Nguyen. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Don Van Nguyen; three children and their spouses, Tam and Tinh Nguyen, Dung "Stormy" and Chi Nguyen and Cuong and Shannon Nguyen; grandchildren, Linda and Steven Nguyen, Jordan and Jace Nguyen. Lien was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother "Ba." The family will receive friends Thursday, June 18, from 5 to 9 p.m., with a Vietnamese prayer service at 7 p.m. and Friday, June 19, from 5 to 9 p.m., with a Vietnamese Wake service at 8 p.m. at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 20, 10 a.m. at St. Benedict Church. Interment Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Benedict Catholic Church, 300 N. Sheppard St., Richmond, 23221, or the Church of the Vietnamese Martyrs, 12500 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23233. Online condolences may be made to www.blileys.com.

I would like share with you all. When my mom when through chemo & was ill (in 1991), Bac Don was visited and prayed for my mom at the hospital almost every day. Other than immediate relatives, I don't remember anyone visiting my mom often. That truly means a lot to me and my family. My condolences to Cuong and his family.

I will always remember Bac Don's smile. It came with a short laugh combined with a girlish giggle. It makes me want to smile too. So genuine. I remember going over Bac Don's house after church with our parents and having lunch. I remember one particular time when we had basically summer rolls.
