Not sure what to say?

I was one of Lila´s students, and stayed in touch with her until Covid. I was devastated to hear that she´d died. Lila was an exceptional teacher and fascinating friend. She will be sorely missed.

Remembering the delightful Lila O. Asher, my Howard University Drawing instructor, on Teacher Appreciation Day, 2021. Rest In Peace.

Lila was a favorite teacher of my late husband Dave Freeman, who took art lessons from her in his retirement. She was at all times gentle, tactful--and effective. We became good friends and often enjoyed times together, frequently at the Cosmos Club. Right up to the end of her long and productive life, Lila was eager to learn new things, asking about books to read, discussing ideas, sharing opinions. Her talent and her enthusiasm for life are inspirational.
Linda Freeman

Lila was an wonderful artist whose entire lifetime body of work has a theme of love. A mother's love, family love, love of God, and love of man kind. I don't recall a single work that deviated from that theme.

On behalf of the Family of the late David C. Driskell, I wish to offer our Heartfelt Condolences on the passing of artist Lila Oliver Asher. She was a Kind Friend and Mentor to my Father.

Respectfully,
Daphne Driskell-Coles

ms.asher was a wonderful person and a great teacher

Lila Asher, a wonderful artist and one of my favorite teachers when I was a student of hers at Howard University. I learned so much from her, in fact, I borrowed and used some of her teaching techniques when I began teaching. I consider myself very fortunate to have known her and I wish to express my sincere condolences to her family.

It was a privilege to know Lila, a great artist, a generous and vibrant lady!
All will miss her at Chevy Chase at Home.

It was an honor to get to know Lila over the past few years.
These picture was taken last November on her 99th Birthday.
Heartfelt condolences to her family.
