Age 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 11, 2013. Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Court Street United Methodist Church, 225 West Court Street, Flint, Reverend Robert D. Wright officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Contributions to Court Street United Methodist Church. Visitation 2-8pm Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Lillian will be at the church 10am Tuesday until the time of the service. Lillian was born in Flint on July 21, 1936, the daughter of Albert and Blanche Alexander Copeland. She lived in Flint all her life with the exception of the last 20 years in Fenton. She married James Mall in 1993. Lillian retired as a gifted Deaf Teacher from the Michigan School for the Deaf after 40 years of service, retiring in 1995. Lillian was a member of UAW 6000, S.E.R.A. and the American Instructors of the Deaf. Lillian enjoyed gardening, designing, cooking and a wealth of creative projects. Surviving are husband, Jim; step-daughters, Vicki Mall of Santa Rosa, CA and Lisa Torre of Jacksonville Beach, FL; several cousins and special cousins, Don and Charlotte Snooks; and dear friends, Brett and Katie Howell. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Helen Johnson and nephew, Gregory Johnson. Your condolences may be shared with the family at

My condolences to Jim and family. I have known Lillian at MSD for a long time and she was my daughter, Ashley's teacher. Ashley loved her the best. Many students loved her, too. Till we meet again, Lillian.
