Lillian Marie Billings Martin, 90, passed into eternity early Monday, September 22, 2025 at James Cancer Hospital in Columbus of an aggressive Leukemia.
She was born in Antrim Twp., Wyandot County on December 4, 1934, the youngest child of Charles C. and Leona M (Watts) Billings. After graduating from Mount Zion High School in 1952, Lillian attended Cedarville College and returned to Bucyrus where she was a foster daughter of Pastor J. Howard Jones, wife Luvena, and their sons, Dave and Daniel. She poured her time and energy into the kingdom work of Calvary Baptist Church, serving in many roles over the years. In 2008, she was blessed to become the wife of Billy J. Martin and got to take in and love on his family as her own ever since. Regarding Billy, she told everyone “He was the best” and he preceded her in death on September 7, 2020.
Lillian will be remembered for her faithful heart, diligent work, and distinct laugh. In addition to her church work, she was a dedicated payroll worker at Swan Rubber for over 40 years. When not at church, she enjoyed being at home clipping coupons, solving word finds, and sending countless cards. If you didn’t get a card, you were probably on the receiving end of a phone call as she loved keeping up with those she loved and she really did “love you all.”
Lillian is survived by nephews and nieces, Bill Billings, Chuck Billings, Jayne Billings, Joyce Bloomfield, Linda Heil, Pamela Wert, and Jackie Groves; stepchildren, Rhonda (Don) Worden and Craig (Cheryl) Martin; and their families.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Robert (Ginny) Billings, Wilford (Isabelle) Billings, Richard Dale Billings, June (Ray) Heil, and Maxine Watts; and nephew, Gary Billings.
Services for Lillian will be held on Friday, September 26 at Calvary Baptist Church in Bucyrus. Friends may call from 11-11:55 am and the funeral will begin at 12 Noon with Pastor David Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made payable to Calvary Baptist Church and given at the services or at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook of Lillian’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
