Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home & Crematory - Ardmore Obituary

The home going celebration for Lillian Roberts, 99, will be Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Centennial Chapel of the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Reverend Fred Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow at Clearview Cemetery with the assistance of Chris Pirtle, Joe Hayes III, Tracy Thurman, Paul White, Chauvin Aaron, and Conrad Aaron. 


The daughter of the late Jerry Claude Hayes and Ada Wilson Hayes Warren, Lillian was born October 9, 1922 in Clarksville, Texas and went to be with her Lord and Savior June 30, 2022.


Lillian was a graduate of Douglass High School, class of 1940 and after graduation, she attended Texas College CME and graduated in 1944.  She continued her studies pursuing her Masters from Kansas State College.  She was a lifetime member of AKA Sorority.


Lillian worked for the Department of Human Services in Kansas City Missouri, and retired after 20 years of dedicated service.  She was a diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan and held season tickets up into her 90's.  She loved sports, cooking and fishing, and made jewelry.  She enjoyed working word search puzzles, reading her bible and traveling.  She had visited 49 of the states.


She married William Hamilton in 1944 and he preceded her in death.  She later married Warden G. Roberts, Sr., January 14, 1994 in Ardmore.  He preceded her in death April 3, 2005.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Warden G. Roberts Jr., brothers, Cleveland and Willie Hayes, and sisters, Susie Mae Pope and Sally Lou Grigsby.


Leaving to cherish her memories are her daughters, Linda Russell and Sonya Garth; her son, Paul Anthony Roberts; grandchildren, Che` Russell, Kirk Russell, Dekena Murray, Jaymie L. Garth and Camilla R. McIntosh; as well as a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
