Racine - Lillie P. Replogle, 94, died early Friday morning on December 10, 2010, in Racine, Wisconsin. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Belland and husband Jerrold of Racine, a son Dan Replogle and wife Amy of Jacksons Gap, Alabama, and two granddaughters, Elizabeth Belland and Emily Kissee and husband Robert Kissee of Durham, North Carolina. Lillie's husband of 49 years preceded her in death in 1991. Born on May 8, 1916, the daughter of Swedish immigrants, Lillie grew up on a farm near Henderson, Iowa. Extremely bright in math, she graduated as valedictorian of Henderson High School in 1933. She also graduated from the Union Commercial College, Grand Forks, North Dakota, and was then employed in the accounting office of the Thos. D. Murphy Calendar Company in Red Oak, Iowa. It was in Red Oak where she fell in love with George Replogle, a kind and intelligent man. They were married at the Mt. Vernon Methodist Church in Washington, D.C. on April 17, 1942. During the World War II years, Lillie worked in the War Department in Washington, D.C. while George served overseas. Later, she worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Sales Office, Los Angeles, California, as a clerk and secretary. George and Lillie lived most of their married life in Fort Dodge, Iowa, from 1948 to 1992. The family loved vacations, mom’s fried chicken dinners, and all of the love and support she offered her children. She moved to Racine in 1993 to be near her daughter’s family. She thoroughly enjoyed her friends at The Atrium, especially the morning coffee group. She also enjoyed many supportive friends from Trinity United Methodist Church in Racine. She loved bridge, her grandchildren, and was known especially for her radiant smile. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Racine. In honor of Lillie and instead of flowers, donations can be made to Careers Support Foundation, 3502 Douglas Avenue, Racine, WI 53402, an organization to enrich the lives of people with disabilities. Or, donations can be made to the L.I.F.T. program for disadvantaged children, in care of Trinity United Methodist Church, 3825 Erie Street, Racine, WI 52402. Both programs are deeply loved by the family.
