Lilly Jane Corbin Lilly Jane Corbin, age 74, went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2012 at Manassas Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. She was born on March 21, 1938 in Rappahannock County, Virginia to the late Orea Amon and Grace Pearl (Whorton) Corbin. Lilly worked in the Toy Department of Rohr's 5 & 10 store in downtown Manassas for 42 years. The Rohr family and the Toy Department of Rohr's held a special place in Lilly's heart. Though she had no children of her own, Lilly treated every child who passed through that old glass and wooden door as if they belonged to her. When a child wanted a toy but didn't have enough money to pay for it, Lilly would tell them the amount they had was just enough and then she would pay the difference herself when they left the store. Children who were frequent visitors of Rohr's were remembered on their birthdays by Lilly with a gift of toys or candy. Lilly was a big supporter of the Manassas JC's to help underprivileged children shop at Rohr's for gifts for their families at Christmas. This event brought lots of joy to Lilly each year. Lilly felt she was put at Rohr's by the Lord to have contact with all those children to help make a difference in their lives, but they also made a significant difference in her life. Lilly hosted the model car contest at Rohr's but was best known by the community for her Easter baskets, which Lilly made each year until the store closed in 1997. People would come from as far as Pennsylvania to get a handmade basket from Lilly. Many were second and third generations coming to get baskets as their parents had when they were growing up. Lilly was a treasure to all who met her. She loved talking to everyone about the history of Manassas and the area businesses. Whether you were young or old, Lilly greeted you with a "Hello, George!" Lilly would laugh when young children would say "My name's not George." As Lilly greeted so many people when they entered that door at the Toy Department of Rohr's Store, imagine her surprise as she entered the gates of heaven and Jesus greeted her saying, "Hello George, welcome home". Lilly is survived by two adopted sons: Jerry Hill and Carroll Weimer, Jr., of Manassas; six brothers: Garfield and wife Jacqueline of Culpeper, Orea and wife Peggy of Stanley, Wade and wife Joyce, Edward and wife Judy, Rolly and wife Barbara and David and wife Jacqueline of Manassas and two sisters: Bess Corbin of Manassas and Dolly and husband Steve Thorpe of Marshall. She was predeceased by her sister: Ressie Virginia Cain. There are 16 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at 8 PM there will be a sharing of memories of Lilly with Pastor Eugene Zorbas at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia; where funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Tom Moore officiating.
