Obituary

CHAPLIN, Linda J., 60, of Emporia, died Monday, December 1, 2008. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Billy Chaplin; two daughters, Stacy Arthur (Michael Wall) of Gasburg, Va. and Clarke Hobbs (Len) of Emporia; six grandchildren, Caela Dent, Bailee Dent, Brinkley Hobbs, Dalton Arthur, Tyler Wall, and Cameron Wall; three aunts, Marie Peebles of Richmond, Marjorie Ellis of Lawrenceville, and Barbara Carpenter of Emporia; a special cousin, Joan Pless of Durham, N.C. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (tonight) at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd., Jarratt, Virginia. The funeral service will be held graveside 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Emporia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Emporia Volunteer Fire Department or to the American Cancer Society.

I was so saddened to hear of Linda's passing. I, too, have many fond memories of Linda such as how devoted she was as a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. She will be greatly missed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless you and keep you at this most difficult time.
