Feerick Funeral Home - Shorewood Obituary

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at the age of 59. Linda was born in Racine, Wisconsin on April 23, 1958 to Frank and Amelia (nee Giacinti) D’Acquisto, Sr.

Survivors include, her sister Connie Falbo of Winter Garden, FL; brother Frank (Lisa) D’Acquisto of Racine, WI; nieces and nephews, Natalie (Paul) Latino; Janet (Chris) New; Emily (Dan) Corr; Abbey (Tony) Mente; and Danny (Kari) D’Acquisto. Linda is also survived by stepdaughter Sarah Stewart and family, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Joe, brother-in-law Jack Falbo and her beloved aunt Eva Smerchek. Further survived by other relatives and dear friends.

A lifelong educator, Linda’s current position was Director of artsHUBmke at Cardinal Stritch University.  She started her career teaching special needs children in Savannah Georgia in the 1980’s.  Linda’s 30 years of experience in education encompassed a wide range of roles each performed to perfection as that was her standard.  Her directorship role introduced a revolutionary way to enhance art, learning and self-awareness to the students, teachers and community within the Milwaukee Public Schools through the processes of her company, Kid Curators.  Over the years, her passion and dedication as a classroom teacher, public school administrator, curriculum developer, museum educator, and director of artsHUBmke has shaped lives, communities, and generations to come.  She enjoyed Door County, a good cup of cappuccino, walks along the lake and was an avid reader.  Linda made it a priority to be actively present in the lives of her family and friends.

Family will greet friends on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00PM at Feerick Funeral Home, 2025 E. Capitol Drive, Shorewood, WI. A memorial service celebrating Linda’s life will take place immediately following at 4:00PM.

Linda’s life work transformed the way teachers teach and students learn.  In honor of the dynamic effect her work had on Milwaukee’s education community, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Arts@Large Historical Building Renovation in memory of Linda.  Donations can be made online at: www.artsatlargeinc.org, or checks made payable to: Arts At Large, Inc., 908 S. 5th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53204.

Not sure what to say?

Linda and I were colleagues back when I was consulting with school districts and she invited me in to work with her at Shorewood. She inspired me with her gifted leadership and I was thrilled when she moved to Madison where we were able to spend more time together. Our friendship grew over fabulous lunches and conversations in her home, and we stayed close as she wrote her book and grew her KidsCurator consulting business. What a brilliant mind and deep, loving and wise heart she had! She was...

Dear Frank & Connie and all her nieces and nephews,

Linda was one of my college roommates, about 38 years ago. Hard to believe we have enjoyed 38 years of friendship! Even if we did not live near each other after college, we kept in touch and shared many laughs together! She was an inspiration then and will still be. It is heartwarming to read other people's tributes to her because I can feel what effect she had not only on me but countless others. She was extremely loved by...

Linda was a filled-with-grace person. Always focusing on children, Linda inspired and led educators to see a new way of engaging students of all ages. Linda's love for the museum work, her unyielding commitment, her insatiable thirst for learning, her sense of humor and ready smile impacted so many lives. She will be missed in thousands of hearts.

Linda's passion and love for leading, reaching and teaching children and adults was contagious and will forever be planted in the hearts and lives of so many. I will always remember her smile and loving spirit. May all of you find peace in knowing she suffers no longer and that having this GEM in your family you have all been enriched for life.
Blessings,

Dear Frank, Connie and family,

Linda was the truest, kindest, most fun friend I could ever have had. Always cooking and laughing! I will miss her forever. Our deepest sympathy to you.

Linda was a trusted friend and visionary colleague. I am so saddened by her loss to her family and her broad network of professional and personal friends. Linda brought passion, perfection and professionalism to her work and inspired hundreds of educators to inspire their students in and through the arts. She always practiced what she preached and challenged others to do the same.

To help insure that her incredible legacy lives on, those of us connected to artsHUBmke will do our...

Another angel entered Heaven.

Linda impacted countless lives and motivated hundreds of educators to be creative. I will always cherish the years I was privileged to work with her as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Although we no longer worked together, our paths would intermittently cross and I always appreciated her warmth and steady focus on improving education. She left us way too soon. I am extremely sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to learn of Linda's passing. I had the privilege to work with her for the past several years and will miss her vision for dynamic education, passion for teaching and her kindness. Sending my condolences to her family and many friends.
