These traits - combined with her knowledge and love of her field - made her a wonderful educator. I am not surprised she went on to play an increasingly important role in the school district and am glad that she did. What a remarkable person.

Mrs Day was my biology teacher in 1978. She never allowed us to lower our standards. The dignity and grace she demonstrated following Larry's passing left an unforgettable impression. Her life of public service was epic in proportion and huge in its impact. What a role model she was on so many levels.
