Linda H. ElegantJan. 29, 1941 - July 12, 2023 I am very sad to note the passing of my wife of 50 years, Linda H. Elegant of La Grande, Ore. She was 82 years old. Her death, at home with me, was peaceful. Linda was the sort of person asked to help in virtually any situation and who mostly managed...

Not sure what to say?

I can hardly believe it's been three years since Linda's been gone. Lately, I find myself wanting to ask her what she thinks about some movies or tv shows I've been watching. Then there's politics. I'm sure discussing what's going on currently would make the situation a little easier to stomach. I miss her everyday.

Linda is in every room in my house. In the kitchen is the cup she always used when she came for a visit. It has a hand painted scene with a border collie standing in a beautiful field. Every time I open the cupboard there she is. My living room is filled with all kinds of fun things like salt and pepper shakers in various incarnations. I've got a Picasso cow bank and a couple of awesome teapots. There's art work for the walls too. I look at those and there she is. My jewelry box is full of...

I am just hearing about Linda's passing, so many months ago now. I don't remember how we met but we were friends of the 'don't see you often but always happy to do so' type. Maybe it was politics, maybe writing community. I don't know but I'm sad to know I'll never see or talk to her again. She told me she was moving east and then we lost touch. I've been a loyal appreciator of CFAF and it is from their appreciation email of her today (May 15, 2024) that I learned she is gone. I hope it was...

Linda and I worked together at the Cascade PCC campus Tutoring Center for a number of years. She was the one with the inspiring ideas, sharp assessments of what was going on college-wide, and the sense of humor that kept me going on the down days-not to speak of what a great English teacher she was. And she wrote poetry. I told her once that as a very little girl, someone told me if I ate a butterfly, I´d get a new dress. After seriously considering it, butterfly in hand, I couldn´t...

Linda Elegant was our daughters' favorite visitor--not only because they loved her name, but because she always had a little something tucked away for them--gum, bubble pens, art supplies. For Wague and I, we delighted in spending time with her, because she always had a wonderful story to share. She loved friends and family to the fullest. We will miss her dearly, but will always talk of her happily and fondly.

I want to add a memory to the remarks I made earlier. One day, my brother and his wife found a litter of kittens and a half empty can of tuna fish abandoned in some bushes near their home. We all wanted to find a home for those kittens and Linda agreed to take one. Every now and then we heard from her about how the kitten was doing as it grew into a cat. It was very generous and kind of her and something I will always remember.

I knew Linda from working at the PSU library. She worked in the acquisitions section of the technical services department. Linda left a lasting impression with everyone she met. I send my deepest condolences to her family and friends at this sad time.
