Meldrum Mortuary & Crematory - Mesa Obituary

Linda Ellen Hartig, 63 passed away peacefully from cancer on October 2, 2016 after a nine year battle. She was born in Christiansburg, Virginia in 1953 and adopted by Norm and Eleanor Buck. She grew up in Glenolden, PA and attended Interboro High School and Millersville State University where she graduated in 1975 with a degree in elementary education. She was married to Dan Hartig in 1975 and lived in Morrisville, PA and Turnersville, NJ before moving to Mesa, AZ in 1983. She started her career at Hill Refrigeration in Trenton, NJ before settling on her true love which was teaching children. She was a pre-school teacher, youth ministry director at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church and a day care provider. Her love of children was apparent in the way she raised her children and the love she poured upon her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dan; her son Jeff Hartig, daughter-in-law Melissa Louden, daughter Pam Kredell, son-in-law Greg Kredell, granddaughter Megan Hartig, and grandsons Caleb and Carter Kredell along with an amazing support group at SOJ Lutheran Church. She adored her grandchildren and loved every moment she would spend with them which was never enough for her. She was a very giving person who will be missed by all. A Celebration of Life will be held at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, 1159 N Greenfield Road, Gilbert, AZ 85234 at 10:00 am on October 13, 2016 followed by a reception/luncheon. A private inurnment will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Friends 4 Life, the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen, or other cancer research organization.

Not sure what to say?

I was truly saddened to hear of Linda's passing. My prayers go out to you Dan and your family. Life is so short and precious but we are grateful that we will again be all together in heaven. I feel honored that Linda and I grew up together and the closeness of our parents created wonderful memories. God will carry you all through this time

Uncle Dan, Jeff, and Pam,
As you celebrate the life of Aunt Linda, know that me and my family have you in our thoughts and prayers. Jacki and I were greatly saddened when we heard the news, but were happy to see the strength that she left in all of you. In celebration I would like to note all of the great times we had joining together on family vacations. Grand Canyon, Vegas, Durango, etc. What amazing trips and times with a wonderful family. She will always be loved and...

Dear Dan, Jeff and Pam - I am very sorry for your loss and pray God's comfort to each of you during this time of loss and grief. I am so happy for Linda who is home with the Lord and now and forever pain free and joyful beyond our imagination. I have many fond memories of Linda's love and care for Jenna and the other children she cared for. I am thankful to have been blessed by her and by the time spent with each of you her family. May God bless and comfort you during this difficult time...

My positive thoughts are with you as you walk through these days of acceptance and understanding. Remember your good timestuff, laugh at her crazy antics and her woneedful personality. She always made me smile and laugh.
