Mary (Shaw) Reel, was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She peacefully departed from this world on Saturday, October 11, 2025. She was born on September 3, 1964, she lived life full of laughter, love and unforgettable moments. Mary was known for her charismatic personality; she had a gift for lighting up every room she walked into. Her infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary loved plants, her green thumb transformed her home into a luscious green paradise. She loved being able to cook delicious meals that brought her family together. Her dog Sassy, was her constant companion and brought her so much joy. More than anything, she loved her friends and family, and cherished every moment she spent with them. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories that will continue to inspire us all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam Shaw and Gail Kingsbury; her brother, Don Kingsbury; her sister, Gayle Patmon; and her beloved spouse, Jeff Battice.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Shaw (Matthew Beltran) of Holland, Mich; and her son, Antonio Bargas (Destinee Nolan) of Zeeland, Mich.;, along with her beloved grandchildren, Christopher Palmo, Thalia Palomo, Khole Palomo, Nova Hernandez and Giana Bargas. She also left behind her brother, Charles (Jennice) Shaw of Manistee, Mich; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her great-grandchildren, Saint Seaton and Elias Palomo, though they never had the chance to feel the warmth of her presence, they shall always remember the memory she left behind for us to cherish.
Mary's Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, October 26, 2025 from Noon to 5 p.m. at the Aki Maadiziwin (Aki) Community Center, 2953 Shaw Be Quo-Ung, Manistee, Michigan 49660.
