Jagers and Sons Funeral Home Obituary

Linda Miller Sheets was born June 10, 1953 in Athens, Ohio.  She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her immediate family on the morning of August 31, 2023.

Linda graduated from Athens High School in 1971 and was loved by anyone who met her.  She had a smile that was contagious and never knew a stranger.  Working her entire life, in and around Athens, she started at Miller’s Poultry for her father.   She retired from Ohio University in 2017.

Linda was a very hard worker throughout her life, whether at home or at work.  She was always on the move and aspiring to the next project to work on.  She loved spending time outdoors, burning brush, riding horses, swimming, skiing, going to church, traveling to the Outer Banks and out West.  Linda was an extremely creative woman who painted, crocheted, macraméd, crafted baskets out of grapevine we would find in the woods, and played numerous musical instruments.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Dorothy Miller; her brother, Frank H. Miller who died serving his country in Vietnam; her grandmother, Gladys Miller; and her uncle and aunt, Keith and Ruth Bateman.

Linda is survived by her loving husband, Al Sheets; her son, Zach Sheets (Amanda Sheets); her daughter, Jessica Sheets (Bill Brooks); her grandson, Liam Medley; and her sister, Shirley Lynes.

Friends may call Wednesday, Sept. 6th from 4-6 p.m. with a service immediately afterwards at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, 24 Morris Ave, Athens, OH with Rev. Stephen T. Sparling officiating.  No graveside service will be observed.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a tree in Linda’s memory.  Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I am so sorry to hear of Linda's passing. Even though I knew her way back in high school, I got to know her better when she worked at OU. I was so pleased that she contributed a story to the "Growing Up in Athens" book. We both had brothers who served in Vietnam and we talked about that. She dearly loved Frank. She was simply a lovely person. May you all be comforted by warm memories of her.
