Linda Faye Mitchell Sonnenberg of Mannford, OK, was born December 28, 1954 in Parsons, KS. She was the 2nd child of Rev. Clint & Barbara Mitchell. She grew up as a preacher’s daughter and attended school in Miami, OK, Tulsa, OK, Fayetteville, AR, Tyler, TX, Irving, TX and graduated from Parsons High School in Parsons, KS, in 1973. She attended Mid-America Nazarene College in Olathe, KS from 1973-1976 and majored in Elementary Education.
While at college Linda met her future husband, Randall Alan Sonnenberg, high school class of 1973, oldest child of Maynard & Verna Sonnenberg of Sterling, CO. They were married on September 18, 1976 in Parsons, KS. They made their home in Sterling, CO for 2 years and then moved to Longmont, CO in 1978. On December 5, 1980 they welcomed Robert Alan Sonnenberg “Robbie” into their family. He was the joy of her life.
In 1992, they made the decision to relocate to Sapulpa, OK to be closer to her family and became a nanny to her sister’s children. She also started working at her nephews’ Christian School, now called Eagle Point Christian Academy, in 1999 as an after school aide and then became a Teacher’s aide. She was the most tenured employee at EPCA. She loved everyone associated with the school, her co-workers, parents and especially “her” kids. They meant the world to her.
Linda passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. She is survived by the love of her life for 39 years, Randy and her son, Robbie; two sisters, Diana Mitchell of Glenpool, OK; Joyce Hobbs and her husband, Roy of Collinsville, OK and brother, Curtis Mitchell and his wife, Debbie of Sapulpa, OK;
2 grandchildren which were so precious to her & the love of her life: Blake & Maddison Sonnenberg of Mannford, OK; nieces, Chonda Berrier of Rockledge, FL; Shannon Crutcher and her husband, Kendall of Sand Springs, OK; Brina Schoonover and her husband, Clayton of Glenpool, OK; nephews, Garrett & Conner Hobbs of Collinsville, OK; Neal Mitchell of Okmulgee, OK; nephew & niece, Andrew & Ashley Hendriquz of Sapulpa, OK; along with great nieces and nephews, cousins and many many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev, Clint & Barbara Mitchell; grandparents, Payne & Ida Mitchell; Neal & Bertha Davis; 5 uncles; 3 aunts and 3 first cousins.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 pm on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Smith Funeral Chapel, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Sapulpa Church Of The Nazarene, 302 S Elm St, Sapulpa, OK. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK.
