Linda Sue Wallace March 3, 1949 – September 8, 2025

Linda Sue entered this world on March 3, 1949, and ever so gently was carried out on September 8, 2025. She was the second of five bright and loving children of Benjamin Harrison Stamper II and Flossy Mae Stamper, both of whom welcomed her home in Heaven.

Waiting there for her also were her eldest son, Paul Louis Wallace Jr.; her sister, Katherine Clemons; her brother, Benjamin Harrison Stamper III; her brother-in-law, Fred Kennedy; her sister-in-law, Linda “Aunt Sissy” Vencil; and her dear in-laws, Paul and “Pinky” Wallace.

Here on earth, she leaves behind her devoted husband of 58 years, Paul Louis Wallace Sr., and their son, Joseph Harrison Wallace. She is also survived by her sisters, Sandra Kennedy and Harriet Wilder; her brothers-in-law, (Pa) Wise Clemons—who could always make her smile just by mentioning rice pudding—and Dean Wilder; and her sister- and brother-in-law, Paula and Gene Harrison, whose nearby homes always felt like part of her own.

Her love stretched wide, reaching nieces and nephews across state lines, rivers, and mountains—many living in places she only dreamed of visiting. Between neighborhoods, school functions, church gatherings, and family cookouts, Linda had a gift for finding the “stragglers” and quickly making them her own, often adopting entire families into her circle of love.

Through this, she collected many names and titles: Sis, Aunt Linda (especially to her beloved niece Rennie, who held a special place in her heart), Mom, Mommy, and Godmother. But none filled her heart quite like the one she treasured most—Mimi. Her joy in that name lived on through Sara, Derek, and her beloved Doodle.

Visitation with the family will be held at Combs-Hess Funeral Service in Lebanon, Virginia Friday, September 12, 2025 from 12:00-1:30 pm and a committal service will be conducted in the Temple Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum at 2:00 pm. The procession from the funeral home to the cemetery will leave at 1:30 pm.
