Betty Buchanan

Betty Alice Buchanan, 86, of Lebanon, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Born in Berwind, W.Va., on May 29, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Conley and Villa Shores Owens. Betty was a retired LPN from various nursing facilities in Tazewell and Bluefield, Virginia. She loved volunteering, after her retirement, at Heritage Hall and Lillies of the Field in Tazewell, Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Harvey Buchanan; daughter, Crystal Buchanan Corbett; brothers, Sam Owens, Conley Owens Jr., Franklin Owens, and Lynn Owens; sisters, Dorothy Sheets, Laura Sheets, and Ruth Matney.
Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie Buchanan Parker and husband Robert of Rosedale, Va., and Susan Buchanan Scialpi and husband Ralph of Roanoke, Va.; grandson, Victor Hedden and wife Cynthia of Wendell N.C.; great grandson, Jayme Hedden of Wendell; special canine companion, Mitzi.
Special thank you to her extended family, the nursing staff, activities staff, housekeeping and kitchen staff at Maple Grove Nursing and Rehab in Lebanon.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Donations, in her memory, may be dropped off to the Activities Department at Maple Grove Nursing and Rehab, Lebanon, Va.
