Emmery Howard

Emmery Allen Howard, 72, of Cleveland, Va., passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Born in Dickenson County, Va., on April 2, 1953, he was the son of the late Larkin and Lakey Neece Howard.
He retired from the Clinchfield Coal Company and was a true outdoorsman. He loved nature and enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. Family life was very important to him, and he valued the time he spent with them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eulas and Scott Howard, and a special friend, Joyce Gilbert.
Survivors include his children, David Howard and wife Ashley, Crystal Stevens, Joni McGlothlin and husband Jon, Stephanie White and boyfriend Allen, Tammy Howard, and Allen Lee Howard; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Sheilla Helton, Dimple Fletcher and husband Mike, and Carolyn Chaffin and husband Ronnie; brothers, Alden Howard and wife Sarah and Auty Howard.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025, in the Owens Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Ted Rasnake officiating. Interment will follow in the Neece Family Cemetery in Dickenson County.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until the start of the service at 2 p.m.
