Linden W. McFarland

Linden W. McFarland, 76, of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, July 21, 2003 at his residence.

Mr. McFarland was born on January 11, 1927 in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Charles I and Della Pearl Boyce McFarland. He was a carpenter for O’Connell Plumbing and Heating, retiring after 27 years of service in 1989. Mr. McFarland was a member of the Winchester Church of God and also a member of the Winchester Conservation Club. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army as a Private.

Mr. McFarland married Martha Catherine Richardson on April 17, 1948 in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Surviving with his wife of 55 years, are two daughters, Barbara E. Cooper of Winchester, Virginia and Linda M. Orndorff of Cross Junction, Virginia; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Barker and Mildred Loy Palmer, both of Winchester, Virginia and three brothers, Douglas McFarland, Leonard McFarland, and Clayburn McFarland, all of Winchester, Virginia. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda D. Sandy.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with the Reverend Glenn Welsh and Reverend Shelvie Mantz officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Sam Pitcock, Richard Hawkins, Jason Marshall, Troy Stevens, Jim Sandy and Michael Moreland.

The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel on Wednesday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
