LINDSEY ALTON MATHIS February 10, 1967- August 12, 2017 Lindsey A. Mathis, also known as Big Daddy, went home to be with our Lord on August 12, 2017 following a tragic accident. He was proceeded in death by his son, Lindsey "Aaron" Mathis, his father Leamon A. Mathis, and two brothers, Arnold and Gilbert Mathis. He is survived by his daughter Bailey Gates (Jonathan Edwards), three grandchild, Grayson Gates, Eliot & Evelyn Edwards of Morehead City, Mother Faye Decatur (Dave) of Hampstead, brother Milton Mathis of Morehead City, two sisters, Sherry Rivenbark (Russell) of Hampstead and Mariea Atkinson (Danny) of Wilmington, and many extended family members. Lindsey touched so many lives with his infectious smile and heart of gold. When he wasn't working as a registered nurse, he could be found spreading joy with his passion for music as a DJ. He was always the life of the party and loved nothing more than to entertain a crowd with his phenomenal singing voice and vivacious sense of humor. Lindsey lived every day to its fullest and truly was a legend in his own time. He was a loving father, grandfather, and a wonderful son, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed by many. Visitation will be at Andrews Mortuary in Hampstead Friday August 18th from 6-8pm. Funeral will be Saturday August 19th at 2pm at Scott's Hill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Harbor United Methodist Church building fund (Surf City). Condolences may be made at www.andrewsmortuary.com

Dear Faye, Dave, and Family,
Very sorry for your loss. I pray you will all find peace in the many wonderful memories you will always carry in your hearts.

Could not believe that we lost you. You were always a good friend. Loved singing with you at the clubs, always a great time and could always count on you to be there when needed. You will surely be missed but I'm sure you are singing in that great band in heaven. Prayers for your family.

We are so sorry for your loss of a father, son, uncle, brother, & friend to so many. Aaron, Lindsey and Leamon are together with our Lord Jesus. He will always be in your hearts until you meet again. Praying for all of you at this time and in the days to come. His God given talent of singing will be remembered by all! Doug & Debbie Jones
