Lisa Diane Darling, age 14, of Humboldt, Iowa, passed away March 19, 2009, at Blank Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Lisa Diane Darling, the daughter of Greg and Sandi (Moores) Darling, was born October 25, 1994, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Her parents brought her home to Audubon, Iowa, where she spent her first year. In 1995, the family made their home at Underwood, Iowa, where Lisa attended pre-school before moving to Plattsmouth, Neb., for a year. They then made their home at Toledo where Lisa completed 1st through 7th grade. Her father's acceptance of the position of Superintendent of Schools brought the family to Humboldt in 2008.

Lisa enjoyed being a wildcat. She loved and participated in basketball, volleyball, softball, and track. She gave 110 percent in her activities and always emphasized the positive in competition. She was a caring girl who loved life, was happy-go-lucky, and could brighten your day when you needed it with random acts of kindness. She loved being with her family who will remember her ornery, happy smile and the twinkle in her eye. She enjoyed boating and tubing and especially being a cheerleader for her brother. She had a knack for bringing friends closer together. Her desire to be a friend to all was best demonstrated by her desire to be an organ donor at the time she received her driver's permit. Her gifts through the donor network will anonymously benefit untold numbers of people in medical need.

Her grandfather, David Darling, preceded her in death.

Lisa is survived by her mom and dad, Sandi and Greg Darling of Humboldt; brother, Brian Darling, a freshman at Luther College; and sisters, Denise and Rachel of Humboldt. She is also survived by her grandparents, Norma Darling and Gale and Yvonne Moores, all of Council Bluffs.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Christ United Methodist Church in Toledo, Iowa. Visitation will also be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 24, 2009, 4 p.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Private family interment services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Council Bluffs.

The Mason-Lindhart funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.

Not sure what to say?

Lisa was a very sweet girl! I remember, when I used to babysit her, how she would love to watch Alice in Wonderland while she ate her lunch. Then she would crawl up in my lap, and go to sleep. She loved to see my husband, Roger, when he would come in from doing chores. She was such a sweet, loving girl. Sending much love to Greg, Sandi, Brian, Denise, and Rachel.
