Lloyd Dalton Obituary

Lloyd Arlon Dalton Sr Lloyd Arlon Dalton Sr., 78, of Meadowlakes, Texas, returned to his Heavenly Home on October 4, 2012 after a battle with cancer. He died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 3, 1934 to Larry and Matha Dalton. He graduated from Austin High School in El Paso in 1954 and then went to work for Mountain Bell/Southwestern Bell where he had a distinguished career of 37 years. He also had a very successful career as a musician known as "Big Lloyd" and was a member of Texas Trailblazers, a band in El Paso that had its own weekly television show. He also performed on numerous country music stages with the likes of Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, and Mel Tillis. In 2007, he gave up his career singing country music and began praising his Lord singing gospel music at nursing homes, churches, and prisons. He knew how blessed he was and in 2011 he performed and shared his testimony in more than 60 appearances. While cancer prevented him from playing publicly in 2012, it didn't prevent him from picking and grinning in front of friends and family up until his final days. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer; brothers, Larry and Aaron; and parents, Larry and Matha. He is survived by Polly, his wife of 53 years; three sons, Eddie and his wife GayAnn and family of Aurora, CO; Lloyd Jr. of Austin; and Kyle and wife Anne of Cedar Park. He also was blessed by six amazing grandchildren, Danielle, Noah, Ashley and Haylee Dalton and Michael and Jason Talley. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held , 3 PM, Monday, October 8, 2012 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 10010 Anderson Mill Rd., Austin, TX 78750. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Seton Highland Lakes Hospice, Seton Highland Lakes Friends of Hospice, Highland Lakes United Methodist Church and Bethany United Methodist Church. Polly and Family
Jill and I are so sorry for the loss of such a good friend of our family. We cannot express to you enough the joy we had every time we got together with you all. Lloyd's constant smile and humor layered on his musical talents always made for wonderful times. Your willingness to come to Oregon to attend our wedding and for him to sing at our rehearsal party is one of our most cherished family memories.

God Bless you all and thanks for sharing one of the great ones with us. I am sure the Good Lord is busy arranging for his latest Angel to keep up and look over all the souls he served while he walked with us.

Love to you all

Although we did not get to visit with Lloyd and Polly often, the times we were with them will always be fond memories. Both were so very loving and gracious. Lloyd's broad smile and welcoming voice touched everyone who knew him. David and I were remembering Lloyd as our Sunday School teacher when we were all in an adults class at Grace Methodist Church in El Paso and how comforting they were to us when we endured the loss of our baby Ronnie when Jesus took him home to join His angel band. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Polly, Eddie, Bubba and Kyle,
We'll always remember Lloyd as a fun loving friend and a great musician. We enjoyed all of the times we visited in Waco. I especially remember a fishing trip Lloyd, his dad and I took to Toledo Bend looking for a "miracle" fish. Probably the most I'd laughed at the time in I can't remember when.
The times with Tommy and Ramona when Tommy and Lloyd named Linda "Leenda Honey" were also special. We think of that often and sometimes I refer to her as that.
Lloyd was a great guy and there will always be a special place in our heart for his many memories and the good times.
May God Bless each of you in a special way at this most difficult time in your lives.
James, Kenneth and Russell send their condolences as well.

Prayers are with Polly and the kids. I will miss you friend. You helped me in my life and were one of my favorite managers. I enjoyed our long talks. You always set a good example of what a person should be. Polly, mom sends her condolences. The kids still talk about the fun they had at the lake when they were little, and the time Lloyd spent with them. You will be missed.
