Lloyd D. Odegard, 88 of Lisbon, ND, formerly of West Fargo, ND, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon. Lloyd was born on August 8, 1927 in Grand Forks, ND to Alvin and Mamie (Heston) Odegard. He attended school in Grand Forks and Lake Park, MN. He served with the 1st Battalion in the US Marine Corps in Tin Seing, China during the end of WWII and was honorably discharged. He later served in the reserves during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged again. He married Loyce Laviere in 1958. Lloyd started his career as a plumber with Diezler Plumbing and also worked in Las Vegas, NV, San Diego, CA, Seattle, WA, Hawaii and at the ABM missile site in Nekoma. On November 25, 1972, Lloyd married Mary Jo Boone at the Federated Church in Grafton. They lived in Reno, NV for 12 years where he worked with Savage & Son and belonged to Plumbers' Union #350. They moved to Grafton in 1985 where he worked with Hank's Plumbing. In 2000 they moved to West Fargo where he resided until moving to the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon in 2013. Lloyd enjoyed fishing, gardening, spending time at Cass Lake, watching the History Channel and MN Twins baseball games and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Men's Club at the Federated Church in Grafton and of First Lutheran Church in Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Meredith Buchanan, Betty Carl, Gerry Fayette, Delores Odegard; brother, John Odegard and brothers-in-law, John Fayette, Alfred Buchanan, Hartleigh Dillman and Gary Waltman. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Mary Jo of West Fargo, ND; children, Brad Odegard (Nina Noe) of Brooklyn Park, MN, Lloyd R. (Vicki) Odegard of Sparks, NV, Brenda Odegard of Lemoore, CA and Lynn Sims of Fresno, CA; grandchildren Alea (Matt) Makley of Golden, CO and Colton Sims of Fresno, CA; great-grandchildren, Alijah and Mikiah; sisters, Marlene Waltman of Grand Forks, ND, Shirley Dillman of Ephrata, WA; brother, Dale (Sheila) Odegard of Glendale NY; sisters-in-law, Judy Lee of West Fargo, ND, Margie Shockley of Aurora, CO and many nieces and nephews. Memorials are preferred to the North Dakota Veterans Home (Courage Cove), Alzheimer's Association or the 20/20 Club at First Lutheran Church in Fargo. Memorial Service: Monday, February 22 at 11:00 am at West Funeral Home Chapel in West Fargo with visitation one hour prior to the service. Final Resting Place: Crescent Masonic Cemetery, Grafton, ND.
