Not sure what to say?

Will never forget my first high school basketball coach. They measured my vertical for the first time and since it was 30" and I had not grew into my feet Coach Samford called me "Thumper". A few people still call me that.

Our deepest sympathies to your family!

A light for your new path.

Love, Cherie

I am going to miss you so much. You were my teacher, mentor, confidant, and best friend for almost half a century. Your light shown so bright that any one who you touched will always benefit. So many memories with you and your family over the years! My prayers with Lisa and Andrea. Your light will shine for eternity. Love, Cherie Lynore.

I'm sure you already know what a wonderful teacher your father/grandfather was. He was kind, funny, patient and inspiring. I adored him during those times. Bless all of you, his loved ones, that you will be comforted during this time.

I knew "Sam" from Jr High through our days at SIUC. I was a year behind Sam; he was already a sports superstar and I was far less so. On two occasions in high school, he took me aside to show me a better way to punt a football, and another time to correct my pitching strategies. He "coached" others of us as well. I reconnected with Sam a few years ago via e-mail, and a glorious few years it has been. From the far Midwest, I will cheer for Sam and celebrate his life.

Mr Samford was my English teacher Freshman AND Senior years. It was great to have him both years because he was very encouraging and took care with his students. If there is any teacher that I miss it is him. My condolences to his family.
