WEST GARDINER -- Lloyd R. Thomas, 79, of West Gardiner passed away May 3, 2011, in Melbourne, Fla., while visiting family. He was born in Augusta on Oct. 23, 1931, a son of Charles and Esther Pinkham Thomas.

KAREN I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS TO YOUR FAMILY. I FIRST MET YOUR FATHER WHEN HE CAME WITH MY AUNT MAXINE TO ME AND MY WIFES WEDDING IN OCTOBER 1968. WHEN MY AUNT MAXINE PASSED AWAY, WE LOST CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER FOR QUITE AWHILE, THAN I MET YOU AT MY NEPHEWS WEDDING AND FOUND OUT YOU WERE MY COUSIN.WHAT A SURPRISE TO ME THAT I HAD ANOTHER COUSIN I DID NOT KNOW. YOUR FATHER WAS A KOREAN WAR MARINE AND I WAS A VIETNAM WAR MARINE. BOTH SARGENTS AND BOTH RECEIVED THE PURPLE HEART. WE HAD ALOT...

I enjoyed christmas,birthdays and turkey day with Lloyd. He always helped me get threw the tough part of family being around.(If you know my family u understand) He is so deeply missed.But was a pleasure to know him.My memories will always remain in my heart.

To my Mom, my sister, my brothers, and new dad,
I'm so sorry for the loss of gramps. He was an amazing man. I have so many memories with him there and smoking his tobacco pipe. That smell will always remind me of him. He will be greatly missed. Love you all!!!
