Lois Hanson Bolton

I am shocked and deeply saddened to learn that Dr. Lois Bolton passed away over a year ago. I had the honor and pleasure to work for and with Lois for two years before she retired. Lois hired me as Central Campus' dean of academic affairs, and I will never forget her wit, humor, twinkle in her eyes, smile, honesty, student-centeredness, and great respect for BC Central Campus' full-time and part-time faculty and staff who she devotedly served and represented. Lois legacy will remain for years to come, through her friends, colleagues and students. She was a well-polished gem shinning with passion and ethics at Broward College. She was a true friend to me as well. I miss her...

When I came to BC in the 90s, Lois was one of the first to reach out and make me feel at home. She was a wonderful colleague and one of the most exceptionally nice and kind people you could ever hope to meet. I cannot recall seeing her without a smile and a positive attitude. Our campus was never the same place after she retired. Lois will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

, during good and not so good times... We started our friendship at a Conference, then we began walking every weekend on Las Olas and nurturing a solid friendship. She retired but we still saw each other when possible - I visited a couple of times in the last months and I tried to visit her before I travelled to Spain in the late Spring, but she was not feeling well. I hoped I would see her upon my return, but she had already left this earthy world, making sure everything was in order for her...

She was such a wonderful person. She will be missed!
