Lois Gail (George) Pye, 86, of River Forest, IL passed away peacefully of heart failure on December 1, 2025 at Journey Care Hospice in Chicago, IL.


She was born in Bedford, IN in 1939 to Lester Carl George and Sarah Elizabeth George.  She attended Richmond High School in Richmond, IN and graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ball State University in Muncie, IN and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority before going on to work as a teacher at Emerson Elementary School in Oak Park, IL and later as an administrator at Triton Community College in River Grove, IL.


Lois met her spouse Douglass Alan Pye at the Oak Park Presbyterian Church in Oak Park, IL and they were married at Methodist Church in Richmond, IN in 1963 and excited to start their new lives together.


She is survived by her husband Douglass, 3 children:  David, Janet Glass, and Kimble, and grandson Cian and many nieces and nephews and friends and acquaintances.


Lois was an active member of many groups and organizations including River Forest United Methodist Church, Nineteenth Century Charitable Association, the Economy Shop, and the book club at the River Forest Public Library devoting much time and energy to each.


She will always be remembered and we couldn’t have asked for a better parent, grandparent, and friend and will miss her every day and she will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.


A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at River Forest United Methodist Church, 7970 Lake St., River Forest from 9:00 a.m. until time of the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst. Donations to River Forest United Methodist Church and Nineteenth Century Charitable Association would be greatly appreciated.
