LOIS MITCHELL Lois Mitchell was born on April 4, 1945 and entered her eternal life on January 6, 2026. She was born in Coleman, Oklahoma to George and Eula Willingham. She attended Coleman High School and graduated in 1963. She considered it a blessing to attend college at Murray State and later graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a degree in elementary education. She then returned to school and earned a masters degree in education. Lois taught for 40 years beginning her career in Buffalo Valley, and later to Springdale, Graham and finally Dickson. Lois had a love for teaching that went beyond the classroom. She had a special gift for building relationships with her students that spanned decades. Many sought her out years later to share milestones and to express their love and appreciation for "the best teacher they ever had." Lois also had a passion for serving and hosting others. She often opened her home to members of her church and shared her talents in the kitchen with them and her community. Her pecan squares and strawberry jam were enjoyed by many grateful recipients, and one could never leave her house without a goodie bag filled with homemade treats. Lois married Larry Mitchell on March 15, 1969 and they spent 57 wonderful years together. They loved to travel, both for vacation and to visit church friends and family. They were faithful members of the Southwest Church of Christ from the time of their marriage and loved to worship with their family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eula Willingham; her in-laws, Bun and Johnnie Mitchell; sister Helen and husband Hoot Stallings; brothers-in-law Dan Hardy, John Gage and Jerry McDaniel; sister-in-law LaRue Willingham and brother Dean Willingham. She is survived by husband Larry; daughter Janie Jones and husband Ronnie of Pauls Valley; son Jamie Mitchell and wife Valerie of Dickson. Eight grandchildren, Taylor Wilson and husband Lukas of Pauls Valley; Kaylee Pierce and husband Ray of Cement; Meagan Brinkley and husband Conner of Coleman; Logan Johnson of Coleman; Noah Mitchell of Coleman; and Drake, Drew and Eli Hanley of Dallas. 8 great grandchildren, sisters Betty Gage and Nita McDaniel; brother Don Willingham; brother Gene Willingham and wife Edda Willingham; and sister-in-law Letha Willingham; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her dearly. Family visitation and viewing will be Sunday January 11th from 2:00-4:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 12th at 9:00 AM at Harvey Douglas Chapel in Ardmore, Oklahoma with nephews Grant McDaniel and Jeff Willingham will officiate.. Interment will follow at Enterprise Cemetery in Coleman, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Southwest Church of Christ. Not sure what to say?

I was very sad and shocked to hear this news! I'm so sorry for your loss. The one word that comes to mind when it comes to Lois is "CLASS". She had it together and was a joy to be around. I spent many Thanksgivings and Christmases at family get-togethers with Lois and Larry whom I have know for around 40 years. I would have been at the memorial service but I only found out about this yesterday. My heart is broken for her family, however, there is no doubt that she is at the right hand of...
