ZAHN, Lois West, 82, of Hanover County, died January 8, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harry F. "Butch" Zahn II; three children, Linda P. Zahn of Richmond, Harry F. "Freddie" Zahn IV and Timothy L. Zahn, both of Hanover; four brothers, E.B. "Brud" West of Moseley, W.L. West of Chesterfield, Norman M. West and Selden R. West, both of Powhatan; two sisters, Angie Overby of Powhatan and Dot Reese; grandchildren, Lauren Rene Zahn, Jonathan Kristofer Stephenson, Megan Lacy Stephenson, Christina Renee Zahn, Casey Lee Zahn and Josh Meisner; and her sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ella; and three sisters, Bernice W. Mitchell, Evelyn W. Stopf and Laura W. "Bitty" Poindexter; and one brother, Mayo D. West. She was a nurse, who graduated from MCV, and nursed at McGuire, Retreat, St. Luke's, St. Elizabeth, Richmond Metropolitan and Imperial Plaza. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. Interment in Signal Hill.

So sorry for your loss. She was a very special person. Although I only knew her a short while, I enjoyed my visits with her at the river. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

I just learned of your loss. I only met her once at the river but I do recall she had quite a presence. I am sure she was such a great comfort to her patients and a great lady. My thoughts are with you.
