Lola Irene Esmay

On May 3, 2024, at 103 years old, Lola "Sally" Esmay passed away gently and peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. She changed her earthly address to a heavenly one and is now with the love of her life, Don, and her beloved granddaughter, Jolie.

Sally was born on August 13, 1920, in South Dakota, to John and Laura (nee Culver) Swanson. She married her true love Donald Esmay in 1945 and raised their 6 children for 6 decades in Coon Rapids.

Sally was preceded in death by husband, Don and her dear granddaughter, Jolie Bialke.

Left to honor her legacy are her six children: Joel (Suzette) Beck-Esmay, Julie (Al) Hawkinson, John (Deborah) Esmay, Joni (Kevin) Hogie, Jani Esmay Bialke, Jay (Leticia) Esmay; her other 18 grandchildren and her 19 great-grandchildren.

She attributed her long life to faith and family (and wine before dinner).

Memorials can be offered to either the Coon Rapids United Methodist Church Choir or her memory care choir via Faith Lutheran Church (put Memory Lane Singers in the memo).

Visitation held Wednesday, May 8, from 5-8 at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home in Andover. Funeral service on Thursday at 11:00 am at Coon Rapids United Methodist. Visitation one hour prior to service.
