Johnson, Lonnie G. age 86, of Pine City, MN died 8/27/08 of injuries sustained in a car accident east of Watertown, SD. Born 1/15/22 to Axel & Lillie Johnson in West Rock, MN. He was a retired dairy farmer and a life long resident of the Pine City Area. Survived by his beloved wife Shirley of 65 years; 8 children, Sandy (Roy) Ware, Des Moines, IA, Cindy (Jake) Boomsma, Huron, SD, Lonna (Lyn) Sahr, Pine City, Shari (Jon) Lawson, Maplewood, MN, Lonnie Kim (Jeanne), Pine City, Jody (Dave) Karas, Pine City, Todd ( Kari) Pine City, Jeff (Chris) Pine City; 28 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wally (La Don), Denny (Dorraine), Donald ( Barbara); sister, Ann Hansen; and sister-in-law, Ruth Johnson. Funeral 11 AM Saturday, Sept. 6 at Pine City Evangelical Free Church Light House. Visitation Fri. Sept. 5 @ Swanson Funeral Chapel, Pine City from 5-7:30 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM & 1 hr. prior to service at church on Sat. Memorials to be used for an Agricultural Scholarship Fund, Pine City Evangelical Free Church or the Johnson Memorial Cemetery Fund. The second recipient of the Lonnie G. Johnson Scholarship is Joe Monson, a graduate of Pine City High School. Joe will attend The University of River Falls and major in Animal Science. Lonnie K. Johnson presented the scholarship award at the senior banquet at PCHS. Dad would love this true farm boy!

Lonnie G. Johnson Agricultural Scholarship 2009

The first recipient of the Lonnie G. Johnson Agricultural Schoarship is Jade Fedder. She is a graduate of the class of 2009 from Pine City High School. Jade plans to attend River Falls University of Wisconsin in the fall studying in the prevet program. Dad loved farming, animals and young people. What better way to honor his memory than with an Agricultural Scholarship! Lonna Sahr presented the scholarship at the senior class awards banquet on May 25th.

East Central Energy and North Branch Mutual Insurance Company both held their annual meetings on Saturday April 4, 2009. Todd Johnson has been filling Dad's position on the North Branch Mutual Insurance Board since last fall.
